Founded in Denver. Rooted in European Craft.

COBO was founded by Petr Proft, who trained in architectural cast stone in his hometown of Prague, Czech Republic. His studies covered restoration and preservation, architectural modeling and molding, and the full range of techniques used in both classical and contemporary applications.

After years of hands-on work in Europe, Petr brought his craft to the United States in the 1980s and established COBO in Denver in September 1992. The name reflects that heritage — CO for Colorado, BO for Bohemia, the Central European region he comes from.

COBO Architectural Cast Stone creates custom decorative cast stone elements for residential and commercial projects across Colorado.

Working with contractors, builders, and homeowners, each piece is designed to enhance architectural detail while meeting the practical demands of the build.

Every element is approached with both design and function in mind.

Rather than relying on standard solutions, COBO produces custom components that integrate cleanly into the structure — including detailed corner pieces and continuous profiles that create a more refined, cohesive result.

The focus is on precision, consistency, and delivering work that looks intentional from every angle.

Among the skills Petr developed during his European training is the dry pack casting method — a traditional, highly precise process that requires significant expertise but produces a level of surface detail and finish quality that wet cast methods don't achieve. It's the approach behind some of COBO's most refined work.

The Process

Each project begins with an understanding of the space, the build requirements, and the overall design intent. From there, components are fabricated to exact specifications, ensuring proper fit, clean alignment, and long-term durability. COBO works closely with contractors and clients throughout the process to ensure each detail is executed correctly from the start.

Over 30 Years Across Colorado and Beyond

COBO has completed projects for private homeowners, commercial developers, school districts, municipalities, and civic institutions throughout Colorado — and for clients outside the state when the project calls for it.
